Special Education
To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by promoting their sense of self and by treating any psychological or mental health problems.
Assure that students recommended for evaluation are assessed in accordance with state and federal laws. Review, write, or interpret reports concerning assessments of students to parents and appropriate personnel. Provide counseling services as needed. Provide information to parents concerning other available sources of services. Assure that students with disabilities are reevaluated in accordance with state and federal laws. Participate in placement/IEP conferences as necessary. Maintain case records on all students evaluated or receiving special education. Assist in making recommendations for a student to receive special education services. Assist teachers by making instructional or behavioral recommendations as needed. Provide staff development to faculties upon request of principal. Maintain communication with other service providers as needed. Perform such other tasks as may be assigned.
Valid SC teaching credential with School Psychologist II certification required.
