  •  Description

    To strengthen and facilitate the educational process by modifying or removing health-related barriers to learning in individual students and by promoting an optimal level of wellness for students and staff.

  •  Responsibilities

    Establish and maintain a comprehensive school health service program. Collect/interpret health data of the student to determine a nursing diagnosis. Conduct required screenings and notify parents of abnormal results. Follow-up on referrals. Develop a nursing care plan unique to a student's needs. Intervene as necessary to implement actions that promote, maintain, or restore health, prevent illness, and effect rehabilitation. Assess student responses to nursing actions in order to determine progress made toward goal achievement. Maintain contact with state and local service providers. Implement District policy on exclusion and readmission of students with infectious and/or contagious diseases. Assist students and families to achieve optimal levels of wellness through health education. Coordinate fluoride mouth rinse program. Determine immunization compliance. Coordinate health promotional activities. Perform such other tasks as may be assigned.

  •  Experience/Qualifications

    Valid RN license required. Current CPR certification Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Nursing experience preferable in school nursing, public health nursing, or community health nursing with children.

  •  Salary Range

    Hourly rate from $28.03-$41.75 based on evaluation of employment history. High School Nurse $1,000 yearly stipend 7.5 hours per day. 185 days
