To provide all students, teachers, and administrators with an enriched environment containing a wide variety and range of materials that will invite intellectual growth and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library resources. Effective: July 21, 2026.
Provide appropriate instruction in library skills. Provide materials to meet specific classroom needs and the needs of the individual student. Promote the use of instructional media throughout the school. Provide an up-to-date reference collection for student research. Evaluate, select, and requisition new library materials and equipment. Provide a functional system for charging materials. Administer the library budget and keep records and inventories of all materials and equipment. Encourage students to use the media center in large groups, small groups, or as individuals. Assist students in the production of materials. Help students to develop habits of independent reference work. Schedule the use of the media center by classes and groups; supervise the scheduling of materials and equipment for classroom use. Arrange for the maintenance and repair of materials and equipment. Supervise library assistants and student workers. Perform such other tasks as may be assigned.
Valid SC teaching credential with Media Specialist/School Librarian certification required.
